There were hugs and even a few tears Nov. 6 after the Englewood High School football team closed out the season by defeating Arvada 13-2 for the first Pirates’ victory of the year.
The Pirates enter the wrestling season with a team that is a mixture of athletes new to the sport as well as six returning letter winners.
A good turnout, players with the size to play the post effectively and some players with varsity experience provide the basic elements that should mean a good season for the Englewood High School boys basketball team.
Next year ushers in a new era for Englewood High School athletics as all sports except football move to the 3A Metro League and the 3A football league makeup is realigned.
The Englewood Youth Sports Association sixth-grade football team snagged the brass ring this season as it qualified to play in the Carnation Bowl on Nov. 14.
