Bowling alley project remains untouched
By Ashley Dieterle
Construction of a Brunswick Zone XL in Parker continues to be on hold with no date set in the future for work to begin.
Although the Brunswick sign on the empty lot located directly north of Twenty Miles Cinemas says the bowling alley is coming in Spring of 2010, due to hard economic times that is not the case.
Vice president of operations for Brunswick Zone XL Don MacBrayne said the company has stopped all development on all up and coming Brunswick Zones including developments in Illinois and Georgia.
“We have to get through these economic times we are in and make changes,” he said. “With the downturn of the economy, we are conserving cash by stopping developments as we get through this.”
MacBrayne said once the economy stabilizes, development plans and construction in Parker will be back on track. He said overall the retail side on current Brunswick Zones has been successful.
“Bowling does well through a recession because more people are staying home and bowling is a great family activity,” he said. “We would love to see a Brunswick Zone in Parker. It would really enhance the entertainment in that area since it will be right by the movie theater.”
If construction does begin down the road, the Brunswick Zone in Parker will have 38 bowling lanes, billiard, arcade games, laser tag and other attractions.
