Bridge club gets sanctioned
The first sanctioned American Contract Bridge League duplicate club had its first tournament in Douglas County. The turnout was much larger than expected; nearly 50 people attended the event Oct. 26.
Charlotte Sholes, a player and coordinator, said people are excited about finally having a sanctioned bridge club in Douglas County.
The group will play at 1 p.m. every Monday at the Ag Barn at Lowell Ranch. The ranch is three miles south of Castle Rock’s exit 181 on the I-25 east frontage road.
Admission is $4. Bring a partner or call ahead to Louisa Allen at 720-733-9690 to find a partner. Players are welcome to come every Monday, once a month or whatever their schedule allows.
The group has a temporary board of directors and will have an election in three months. The main organizer, Marge McDonald, is a retired teacher and long-time resident of Castle Rock. For more information, call McDonald at 303-688-9032 or Sholes at 303-681-2642.
