‘Any Dream Will Do’ as Joseph journeys
By Sonya Ellingboe
The music in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” ranges from rock to gospel to country, and the story is compelling, presenting the Biblical tale of Joseph, his journey and the colorful characters he meets— all told in the vibrant style of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
It should be a perfect, if challenging, choice for young actors in Mountain Vista High School’s Stage Flight Theatre, where it plays at 7 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 in the school’s theater at 10585 Mountain Vista Ridge, Highlands Ranch.
Director Jeremy Goldson says he thinks “the heart of the show sometimes gets lost in the overwrought spectacle of modern production.... We are scaling our show back to make sure the message clearly comes across.... about hope, innocence, the burden of experience and knowledge...”
Appropriate for all but the very youngest family members.
Tickets cost $9/$6, 303-387-1558.
