Skyview downs Englewood
Down 34 points and after losing two starters to injuries, Englewood’s football team hung in there and scored a pair of late touchdowns in the Oct. 24 loss to Skyview.
Skyview’s strong running game proved effective and the Wolverine defense kept the Pirates out of the end zone for most of the game.
But, quarterback Jacob Lowder got Englewood on the scoreboard with a 48-yard pass to Chris Nunnelly and, later in the final quarter, Lowder connected on a 20-yard pass to Johnny Waltz.
Lowder finished the game 13 for 22 for 202 yards.
Junior linebacker Dustin Fletcher was among the leading tacklers and he alertly made an interception, the first in his football career, and carried it deep into Wolverine territory.
The loss leaves the Pirates 0-8 on the season and means they will be at home against Arvada on Nov. 6 when the league’s divisional teams are cross matched one against one and so on.
