Englewood students excel in art competition
Marcia Harvey was the winner of the Windows to the Divine art competition for high school seniors, which was Oct. 15 at the MADDEN Museum of Art in Greenwood Village. Harvey earned a $350 scholarship, and her school received $250 from Evergreen Fine Art Gallery to purchase art supplies.
Second-place winner Jason Cheski earned a $200 scholarship from the Mizel Museum, and a $100 scholarship was awarded to third-place winner Christine Ruggera. All three students are in the Advanced Placement art program at Englewood High School with art educator Sheila Olson.
The works of the top three finalists of the competition were exhibited at the MADDEN from Oct. 15-23. Other area schools who participated in the show included students from Arrupe Jesuit High School, Bishop Machebeuf High School, Littleton High School, Regis Girl's Division High School and St. Mary's Academy.
