Former Warrior named player of week

Colorado School of Mines’ David Pesek has been selected as the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame – Colorado Chapter Player of the Week for games played Oct. 24, as announced two days later by the NFF Colorado Chapter media relations office.
Pesek, a 6-foot-3 inch, 210-pound senior quarterback from Centennial and an Arapahoe High School graduate, completed 29-of-38 passes for 372 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions, as the Orediggers defeated Chadron State College in overtime by the score of 30-27 at Brooks Field in Golden, to remain undefeated in conference play.
Pesek, a 2009 Harlon Hill Trophy candidate (NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year), is presently ranked first in the RMAC and third in the nation (NCAA Division II) in passing yards with 2,762, first in the RMAC and ninth in the nation in total offense with 299.3 yards per game, first in the RMAC and 10th in the country in passing with 306.9 yards per game, first in the RMAC and 12th in the nation in passing touchdowns with 22 and first in the conference and 13th in the nation in completion percentage with 64.0.
Pesek is also ranked second in the RMAC and 17th in the country in passing efficiency with 151.7.
Pesek is now ranked second in the CSM career record book in passing attempts with 1,164, passing completions with 737, passing yards with 8,390, completion percentage with 63.5 percent (737-of-1,164) and touchdown passes with 59.
Prior to the start of the 2009 season, Pesek earned Pre-Season RMAC Offensive Player of the Year honors and was named Pre-Season First Team All-RMAC by d2football.com. So far this season, Pesek has been named to Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, to be recognized at the 2010 Allstate Sugar Bowl and was featured on the monthly NCAA on Campus television show on the CBS College Sports network.
An Honorable Mention All-RMAC pick as a sophomore in 2007, Pesek was named First Team All-RMAC and First Team NFFCC All-Colorado following his junior campaign in 2008. A two-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week pick in 2008, Pesek is the President of CSM’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Pesek earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering last May and is presently pursuing his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, pre-med.
Pesek has earned multiple Academic Achievement Awards during his collegiate career and has been listed on the honor roll at Mines.
