Your vote for Noon really does count

By now, many Centennial residents have voted and returned their ballots in this election. We hope you have, too.

If you haven't, it's surely not because you aren't a responsible citizen, but rather that 1.) you don't think your vote matters and/or 2.) you don't know any of the candidates and don't have time to do the research necessary to make an educated choice.

But in local elections, each vote does count. A few votes can either carry or defeat a candidate or issue.

As a recent example, in Lone Tree's May 2008 Municipal Election, voters said yes — by just 80 votes — to funding the new Cook Creek Pool, now built adjacent to the Lone Tree Library. In this same election, voters also said yes — by just 26 votes — to building the 500-seat Lone Tree Cultural Center, to be completed in August 2011. These facilities will enrich the lives of south metro residents for generations to come — all because each citizen cared enough to vote.

Centennial’s mayoral election may not seem as glamorous as one involving a new pool and cultural facility, but choosing our next mayor to lead our city through the challenging years ahead couldn't be of any greater importance to us all — and, yes, your vote matters.

I'm one of many Centennial citizens who have come to know Cathy Noon over the past decade, through serving with her on various boards and commissions, a number of which she has chaired. We all know Cathy to be unwaveringly honest, intelligent, reasoned, thorough, and fiscally responsible in each decision she makes. Above all, she listens carefully to all, builds consensus, and through skilled guidance, motivates all working alongside her to work together to reach a common goal.

There is no better choice for mayor than Cathy Noon.

The Centennial Citizen has endorsed Cathy Noon to be Centennial’s next mayor. And many of us have already voted for her. Now Cathy needs your vote!

Please take a few minutes to learn more about Cathy Noon and then cast your vote for her. And then make sure your ballot is in the Clerk’s Office by Nov. 3.
