Cooney can get the job done on council
We met Pete Cooney four years ago when he knocked on the door of our home.
Pete had taken the time to knock on every single door in our neighborhood alerting us to a situation that the new owner of the Marathon Oil property (on S. Broadway between Dry Creek and Geddes) was on the verge of pushing through a development that potentially would have a negative impact on our neighborhood.
Because Pete loves our neighborhood as so many of us do; he makes a point of staying informed and keeping his finger on the pulse of what is happening. He brought us collectively together and we were successful in packing the Littleton City Council chambers to cry “FOUL”. What a shame we had faith in the system and the developer.
Our concerns and opinions were rejected by the majority of Littleton City Council and we went home feeling we had fought the good fight but came out quite defeated.
But that is when Pete rolled up his sleeves and decided to do something about it. He founded an organization called CNC (Contiguous Neighbors Coalition) and, while the developer had pushed through all they had wanted and refused any further communication with us whatsoever, Pete was able to shepherd a large group of Neighborhood Representatives to meet with both the Littleton and Centennial Planning Departments, establishing a extensive list of design standards in an effort to minimize the gross impact this new development would have upon our community. A neighborhood petition, signed by nearly every single household supporting CNC’s efforts was an additional amazing outcome.
The tenacity, thoroughness, and analytical intelligence that Pete demonstrated in this ordeal are the leadership qualities District 1 needs.
We honor the integrity and values of our neighborhoods and support a government that is responsive, respectful and accountable to our citizens.
That is why our family is proud to be voting for Pete Cooney.
