Can Thanksgiving be four weeks away?
Yes, and so is the Turkey Day 5K held by the Chamber of Commerce.
Preregistration is at www.td5k.com.
Entry fees are $40 day of the race for all competitors, preregistered $28 for ages 16 and up and $20 for racers 15 and under. The children’s fun run is and $8 entry and includes a T-shirt.
The certified course begins and ends at Shea Stadium, 3270 Redstone Park Circle, off Town Center and Santa Fe drives. Runners will use trails and roads for the course.
Leashed dogs and baby strollers are allowed on the course. Headphones are not.
Race day registration and bib and chip pick up begins at 7:30 a.m. Nov 26.
Come out and join a tradition of working off the potatoes and stuffing before you eat them.

Ice, ice, baby
Just in case the snow before Halloween was not enough for your winter vibe, the Highlands Ranch Community Association is opening the seasonal synthetic ice rink in Town center North, by the new Target on Highlands Ranch Parkway and Lucent.
Skating demonstrations and raffle prizes from the Colorado Avalanche and the University of Denver Pioneers hockey teams will add to the day starting at 1 p.m. Nov. 7.
Forensics doesn’t always mean debate
Children 8-12 can learn about police science in CSI Science for Kids at the library Nov. 18.
Learn how detectives use science to solve mysteries. Attendees will participate in several activities to learn more about observation, evidence collecting, and fingerprinting.
Free, registration required at 303-791-READ. 3 and 4:30 p.m., Nov. 18 at the Highlands Ranch library, 9292 Ridgeline Boulevard.
