Mail-in ballots due Nov. 3

Arapahoe County voters have until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to turn in their ballots in the mail-in only election. Ballots have already been mailed to all eligible voters.
The county has 13 drop-off locations where voters can take their ballots. The locations will be open until 7 p.m. on election night. A list of the locations is available at arapahoevotes.com.
“Turnout has been light so far,” said County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Doty. “Typically, we get a surge of ballots in the last few days before Election Day, so we are expecting things to pick up.”
As of Oct. 21, more than 18,000 ballots had been returned — 7 percent of the 260,000 ballots sent. In the 2007 election, 37 percent of Arapahoe County’s registered voters participated.
Colorado law allows counties to begin tabulating mail-in ballots 15 days before Election Day, but no results can be released until after the polls close at 7 p.m. on Nov 3.
“Results won’t be final at that point because we will still be counting, but voters can find continuously updated results on election night [on the Web site],” Doty said.
Voters who may have lost their ballots may obtain a replacement ballot by calling 303-795-4511. Replacement ballot information is also available at the election Web site.
Because there are no statewide or countywide races or issues on the ballot this year, many voters in Arapahoe County who live in unincorporated areas or in areas where elections have been cancelled have not received a ballot.
Voters may check to see if their ballot has been received by the county at arapahoevotes.com.
