Events to help food bank

The Kiowa Creek Community Church Food Bank is gearing up for the holiday season with a number of upcoming events. Donated items are always in need at the food bank especially during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The food bank is putting together Thanksgiving baskets will all the fixings for a complete Thanksgiving dinner. And this year the food bank needs donations more than ever.
“Due to the continued economic crisis, we expect to put out more baskets that in the last few years,” said Holly Haan, food bank director.
Haan said any donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the church located at 231 Cheyenne St. in Kiowa. Monetary donations are also welcomed and can be sent to Kiowa Creek Community Church Food Bank, P.O. Box 778, Kiowa, COLO 80117.
Upcoming events:
The third annual holiday meal for senior citizens on Nov. 24. Because three local seniors citizen centers will be closed the week of Nov. 23, Kiowa Creek Community Church is providing a hot meal though the community outreach program. Call 303-621-2376 to reserve a seat.
R.T. Services annual “Trash Out Hunger” food and cash drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 located in the Wal-mart parking lot in Elizabeth. Kiowa Creek Church is the main area to sort and redistribute to other local agencies.
Kiowa Creeks Church’s annual “Santa’s Workshop” in December in which families in need can come in and select gifts for their children. Families will also be able to pick up a Christmas basket of food for their holiday meal.
Any individual or business that wants to make monetary or toy donations can drop or mail them to the Kiowa Creek Community Church Food Bank, P.O. Box 778, Kiowa, CO 80117.
