Snowstorm forces 5A tournament to begin late

Class 5A state boys high school soccer is off and running.
Finally.
After three days of postponed games of the first round of the state championship tournament, south metro teams were finally able to start strong over the weekend.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe advanced to the second round of action Oct. 31 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium in Littleton as the No. 11 seed. The Warriors put up a 4-0 win over the No. 22 seeded Columbine.
Senior Adam Tormoehlen had one goal and two assists for the Warriors against the Rebels. Juniors Spencer Rogl, Seth Donegan and David Hewitt scored one goal each.
With the win, Arapahoe advances to Round 2 to face No. 6 Ponderosa Nov. 3 at Burt.com Stadium in Parker. Results of that game were unavailable by press time.
Cherry Creek
No. 1-seeded Cherry Creek also advanced to the second round after a 5-2 win over No. 32 Grand Junction. No highlights were reported. The Bruins advanced to face No. 16 Rangeview in Round 2 Nov. 3. Results of the game were unavailable by press time.
Heritage
As the 5A dance’s No. 5 seed, Heritage put up a 3-1 final over No. 28 Fountain-Fort Carson Oct. 31 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium in the first round.
Senior Max Brotherton, John Jacobs and sophomore John Bruno each scored a goal for the Eagles. Senior Sam Serniak had two assists, and senior goalkeeper Justin Tomasetti had five saves.
In Round 2, Heritage faced No. 12 seed Grandview Nov. 3. Results of the game were unavailable by press time.
Littleton
Unfortunately, Littleton didn’t have the same success in the 5A state tournament.
The No. 19 seeded Lions lost in the first round to No. 14 Boulder Oct. 31 in Boulder by a 2-0 final.
