$100k cowhorse event this weekend

One of the nation’s premier reined cow horse events is coming to Castle Rock.
Rider and horse teams will compete for over $100,000 in a three-event multiple-day competition. Past and present world champions and top-ranked riders from more than 12 states will be in attendance.
Admission is free for the horse show activities, which began Nov. 4 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock. Competitions run daily through Nov. 8 beginning at 8 a.m.
Current and past world champions Blue Allen, Darren Miller, Tim Unzicker and others. There will be a reining competition Nov. 6, and beginning at 8 a.m, local radio station 92.5 WOLF FM will host a live remote broadcast from 4-6 p.m.
Two special charity events are scheduled for the nights of Nov. 6-7.
A team calf branding competition, in which four cowboy teams will rope cattle and brand them with paint, at 7 p.m. Nov. 6. The fastest team wins cash and prizes. A celebrity event is scheduled for the following night.
Proceeds from the events will benefit two local charities: the Colorado Reined Cowhorse Association Youth Scholarship Fund and Western Wishes.
