Woman’s body found in lake
The body of a woman found floating in a lake north of Divide on Oct. 19 was identified Thursday as 30-year-old Ieva MacDonald.
The woman lived in the subdivision where her body was found.
On Oct. 19, at about 10:12 p.m., the Teller County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a woman that said she needed to have a deputy go out to an area north of Divide and check the welfare of a friend of hers and the friend’s girlfriend.
Deputies found an abandoned pick-up at about 10:20 p.m. The truck was located on the edge of Lake Drive Road and was high centered. Lake Drive Road is in the Spring Valley Subdivision, north of Divide, and surrounds a large private lake.
The deputy saw the woman’s body at the water’s edge, floating face down, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
The report also said that CPR was unsuccessful and the woman was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Deputy County Coroner Al Born said the woman died of drowning after a short period in the water.
Teller County Sheriff Kevin Dougherty said investigators are questioning the driver of the pickup, a white male in his 30s.
