Teen contest focuses on domestic violence
By Norma Engelberg
The Domestic Violence Resource Fair in Woodland Park earlier this month was not only an occasion for adults to gather information about domestic violence, it was also an opportunity for teens to show what they know.
With the theme “It Stops with Me,” teens submitted poems or photos that addressed the intergenerational aspects of domestic violence.
Cripple Creek-Victor Junior High eighth-grader Breanna Tomlin won $100 for her poem, “I’ve Had Enough,” while Woodland Park High School senior Taylor Lawson won $100 for “Three-Shot Body Art,” a series of three photos showing bruises left on bodies by violence.
