I-25 resurfacing project resumes
The Colorado Department of Transportation began a four-mile paving project on Interstate 25 between Douglas Lane (Castle Rock south city limit) and Tomah Road this week.
Work originally started in May 2008, but shutdown last summer due to an asphalt shortage. In addition to asphalt paving, work includes rotomilling, new rumble strips and erosion control work.
Drivers can expect single lane closures at various locations on northbound or southbound I-25 during the following time periods:
Northbound
Sunday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Southbound
Sunday from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Drivers should anticipate delays and a reduced 45 mph speed limit during project hours. Vehicles wider than 12 feet also will be restricted from traveling through the work zone. The speed limit will return to 75 mph during non-work hours.
Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers.
Premier Paving, Inc. of Denver, CO is the contractor for the $3.2 million project. It is scheduled for completion in August 2009.
