Somin Lee of Heatheridge Country Club recently won the CWGA Junior Stroke Play Championship at Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel with a six stroke lead over Lauren Forney of Bookcliff Country Club. Lee played a very steady round hitting approach shots close and making key putts for birdies and pars. A total of four birdies were on Lee’s card.
Clark wins CGA Junior Stroke Play title
Wyndham Clark, a 15-year-old from Cherry Hills Country Club, cruised to an 11-stroke victory in the CGA Junior Stroke Play Championship at June 17 at Eaton Country Club. The sophomore-to-be at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch shot a 2-under-par 69 in the final round to post the only subpar total for the 54-hole event. Clark, thanks in part to an eagle on the fourth hole on June 17, finished at 8-under-par 205.
Benjamin Krueger of Pine Creek Golf Club and David Holtgrewe of Cherry Hills tied for second place at 3-over-par 216.
Clark, a resident of Greenwood Village, has now won three events on the 2009 Colorado Junior Golf Association schedule, in addition to finishing second earlier this month in the American Junior Golf Association’s Colorado Junior at Flying Horse. June 17 marked Clark’s first victory in a Colorado Golf Association championship.
