Castle Rock police are on the lookout for a man who robbed a Walgreens pharmacy of several controlled substances. Investigators believe he is the same man wanted in two Colorado Springs robberies reported in December 2008.

Castle Rock detectives are conducting a joint investigation with Colorado Springs officials to solve the crimes, said Kal Collins, detective with the Castle Rock Police Department.

According to a Crime Stoppers alert issued by the Castle Rock Police Department, the suspect entered the Allen Street Walgreens near Founders Parkway around 7:20 a.m., Jan. 5 and passed a note to the pharmacist, demanding narcotics.

The note indicated he had a gun, but no gun was displayed during the incident, investigators say.

Once he obtained the un-named narcotics, the man left the store and fled in a white-over-black, two-tone pickup truck with a sunroof and matching topper.

The man is described as white, about 30 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build. The suspect was wearing a black jacket with a dark gray stripe, a gray hooded sweatshirt, hat and blue jeans that are faded on the front of the legs.

The same person is suspected in the Dec. 5, 2008, robbery of a Walgreens pharmacy at 4315 Centennial Boulevard in Colorado Springs. In that incident, the suspect presented a note asking for several controlled substances and indicated he had a gun.

Again, no gun was displayed during that incident and witnesses observed the man leave in a white Ford F-150 with a topper.

On Dec. 23, Colorado Springs police received a report of a robbery at the US Bank at 1520 Briargate Boulevard. Around 5:45 p.m. the man entered the bank and presented a note to the teller, demanding money. The note indicated he had a gun, although witnesses did not observe any weapon.

The suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Colorado Springs police.

The method used in these crimes is similar to that used during a Dec. 23 bank robbery at a Castle Rock US Bank at King Soopers on 100 Founders Parkway. In that incident, a suspect bearing a disguise passed a note to a teller, demanding money and indicating he had a gun. No weapon was seen at that time.

While investigators have no reason to believe the Castle Rock bank robbery is related to the other incidents, authorities continue to actively investigate the crimes, Collins said.

Police urge residents to report any suspicious behavior, clothing and activity to authorities. In most cases, a person observed wearing disguise-like clothing, or even sunglasses indoors, could warrant a call to authorities, Collins said.

“He’s pretty good about wearing sunglasses and covering up his face while he’s inside,” Collins said. “Normally if you see that inside that would be a pretty good clue that he’s up to something. Or if someone’s acting suspicious give us a call and we’ll look into it. We would rather be safe than sorry.”

There is a reward up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Crime Stoppers collects information on unsolved crimes or individuals wanted by police. Callers can remain anonymous and the tip line is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
