Fourth edition of ‘Loser’ starts
By Benn Farrell
The fourth edition of the I Want to Be a Loser contest launches this weekend.
Organized by former Mr. Colorado (1998) Kent Paul, this edition is designed to have couples and partners compete as teams against others, attempting to account for the greatest body fat percentage loss at the end of a six-week period.
The third edition of the contest adopted the concept of team competition, but Paul felt a two-person team concept would keep the positive changes from last year and improve the contest once again.
“It’s a power-punch, shorter version,” Paul said.
Participants of the contest must be at least 15 pounds overweight. With the top-three places awarded in prizes, first place is $1,000 worth; second, $500; and third, $250.
The contest consists of weekly weigh-ins, workouts with a trainer and fitness tips and education. The six-week edition kicks off Jan. 10 at Village Fitness with a fitness seminar including guest speaker Teresa Nystrom, 42, a Miss Olympia gold medalist figure champion, whom Paul trains.
