Burglar hits Castle Rock home
By Rhonda Moore
Castle Rock police are investigating a home burglary in an upscale subdivision south of town where thieves got away with property valued up to $100,000.
Police received the report around 5 p.m., Dec. 26, when a caretaker arrived at a home on the 6700 block of Diamond Ridge Parkway to discover property missing. The homeowner was out of town at the time and there was no sign of forced entry, said Kal Collins, detective with the Castle Rock police department.
Police cannot release how the suspect or suspects got into the house, but said the incident does not appear to be a random act.
The homeowner reported a number of televisions and several pieces of jewelry were taken from the residence, Collins said. The home is in the upscale subdivision of Diamond Ridge, south of Castle Rock. The home was not occupied at the time of the crime, he said.
Because it is an ongoing investigation, Collins could not disclose whether the house was protected by a security system. Neighbors report seeing nothing unusual, he said.
There is no evidence the crime is related to a number of vehicle trespasses reported Dec. 23 in The Meadows area, he said.
He joins investigators who encourage residents to lock their doors at night.
“Make sure you lock your car doors, house doors and, if you have a safe, lock up your valuables,” Collins said. “Also, if you have one, be sure to arm your security system.”
Investigators have identified no suspects in the case and ask anyone with information to call Castle Rock police at 303-663-6100.
