In a day packed with holiday activities, Dec. 6 begins with the Kiwanis Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 a.m.
With Santa and Mrs.Claus, aka Bob Mitchell and Marisue Vincent, toys, elves, alpaca rides and games, in addition to pancakes, sausage and juice, the event is kids’ paradise. “The cool thing is that we get all the youth-sponsored groups, the K-Kids [Kiwanis], Building and Key clubs, which represent the elementary, middle and high schools,” said Dawn Ignatius, past-president of Kiwanis and coordinator of the breakfast. “All of those kids are there to help, more than 90 kids who rally to make this event happen.”
Boy Scout Troops #230 and #43 help with the cleanup.
A Teller County tradition for 15 years, the breakfast brings out the holiday spirit in businesses and organizations.
This year, the Cripple Creek & Victor Mining Co. donated $1,000; Kevin and Cindy Johannes donated the food, Farm Crest, the juice, Kiwanis members, the homemade cookies, and several local businesses donated the toys. “The breakfast is completely free and Santa gives out toys,” Ignatius said.
The breakfast is from 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Ute Pass Cultural Center.
