Jan Finkel said the mission of the Colorado Corvette Club is to give back to the community in any way it can. The club also is dedicated to furthering its Corvette hobby, while having fun, fellowship and respect for all people.

“We do fundraising all year for miscellaneous charitable needs,” Finkel said. “This year, we did two car shows, one in Lakewood, and one in Kremmling, Colo., where all proceeds were donated to our charity fund.”

Additionally, the “car lovers” dig into their own pockets for donations, such as the Thanksgiving event Nov. 22 for the Douglas County Food Bank. Castle Rock residents, Kevin and Leslie Belcher played a major role in the organization and coordination of the Thanksgiving event. Corvette Club member and owner of a 2006 black coupe, Leslie Belcher, believes they will have about 15 to 20 dinners to donate. The donations include one 10-pound frozen turkey, a box of instant potatoes, stuffing, turkey gravy and cranberries.

“Our members brought 23 cars full of food to Channel 9 Cares at the Inverness location last week,” Finkel said. “We then worked unloading cars and packing boxes for two hours.”

The members also participate in other Corvette club car shows as well, and many of those also give their proceeds to charity.

“Some of our members like to road race and autocross, while others enjoy taking road trips,” Finkel said.

The club’s trips this year included outings to Moab, Ouray, and Pagosa Springs.

The Colorado Corvette Club is aligned with the National Council of Corvette Clubs, an organization of 18,000 plus members.

According to Finkel, while the club enjoys their cars, it's the friendships that they’ve made along the way with other Corvette owners that are really important.
