A new eatery promises to "bring downtown dining to Parker."

BB's Bistro and Bar opened in August at 11280 Twenty Mile Road and has been serving up high-quality food and a relaxing atmosphere ever since.

Paul Blakely, who co-owns the bistro with his wife, Michelle, said they opened up in Parker because there are no fine dining restaurants in town. They decided a fine dining bistro and a piano martini bar would be a perfect fit among Parker's growing communities.

"We're offering casual elegance with first-rate service and first-rate food," Paul Blakely said.

The weekly chef's special sometimes includes such delicacies as Ahi tuna, pink snapper and Tasmanian salmon, which are shipped directly from Hawaii. The owners are part of a Federal Express program that ships food as soon as it is caught. Blakely said the seafood specials are especially fresh because the meat has been out of the water 24 to 30 hours.

"It keeps the restaurant fresh for our regular customers, and we're starting to get a lot of those," Blakely said.

In addition to great food, BB's Bistro and Bar offers the smooth piano playing of Pancho Harrison, a well-known Denver musician who recently came out of retirement. Harrison plays a mix of classical, jazz and even some modern hits by artists such as Elton John and Billy Joel.

Harrison will be a mainstay at BB's, which is one of southeast Denver's only piano bars. He will play every week from 6:30-11 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

One signature dish on the menu is the velvet salmon, which is crusted with a crushed pistachio mix in butter. The chicken Garcia - named for the chef - is stuffed with lobster and crab. The chicken is lightly breaded and baked to perfection.

Blakely said the prices at BB's are generally less than top restaurants in Denver and Cherry Creek because they are not a la carte. When you order a steak, for example, there is no need to order side dishes separately.

Reserve your spot now for BB's New Year's Eve bash. Couples will be treated to a four-course meal and bottle of wine for $120 starting at 6 p.m. The nighttime party is a black tie event starting at 9 p.m. Couples will get the four-course meal, a higher grade of wine, party favors and live music for $160.

BB's regular business hours are from 4:30 p.m. until the last customer is ready to leave Tuesday through Sunday. Reservations are not required, but recommended. Call 303-805-8966 for information.
