Editor's note: Following is list of road projects to be worked on this spring.
Yosemite widening
Road widening from The Great Indoors store near Park Meadows Town Center north to Chester Street. June through September construction dates. The funding is still disputed between Lone Tree, Douglas County and the Park Meadows Metro District.
Lagae Road
A new north-south road, Lagae will be paved from Castle Pines Parkway (beginning west of the new King Soopers grocery store) south to Castle Pines Village to relieve traffic on Happy Canyon Road. Construction from July through October.
The access from Lagae Road into Castle Pines Village reportedly will be gated.
Eventually the new road could be extended south to just west of Interstate 25. The land between the planned Lagae Road and I-25 on the east is undeveloped. Castle Pines North neighborhoods are east of the road site.
Palmer Divide Road
From Colorado 83 to Furrow Road, Palmer Divide Road will be paved. The road will remain two lanes wide, but shoulders will be expanded. Construction dates are June through September.
Gillian Avenue
To begin handling traffic from Elbert County commuters, Douglas County is planning to pave one mile of roadway in southeastern Douglas County each year. This year Douglas crews will pave one mile of Gillian Avenue from Colorado 83 to the Cherry Creek in southeastern Douglas County. Steele Avenue likely will be paved with a mile of asphalt next year.
Russellville Road paving, phase II
Construction began last month on the last phase of paving on Russellville Road. Completion is expected in September, the county said. The northern third of Russellville Road was paved years ago. The middle third of was paved last year after delays. Efforts to cooperate soured for a while between utilities and the county.
Democrat Road paving
Paving from South Pinery Parkway to Flintwood Road is scheduled for June through November. Previous delays related were to right-of-way acquisition, the county said.
Bayou Gulch
grading
From Cherry Creek west to Scott Gulch, the county will grade a new road.
The grading is preparation for a developer's plans to soon pave the north-south road west of Colorado 83, formerly planned to be called Chambers Road, but changed to Bayou Gulch Road.
The road eventually will be four lanes, leading to Crowfoot Valley Road and as far as Arapahoe County. A bridge is being built by the Pinery West developer.
Lincoln Avenue
extension,
Pine Drive widening
Delays on this project allegedly resulted from utility companies not moving utility lines. Completion is re-scheduled for December 2002.
