Traffic on Founders Parkway soon will be safer because of changes to the Founders Parkway Access Management Plan, approved Jan. 25 by the Castle Rock Town Council.
"The plan does away with [a left-turn in and a right-in-right-out] about 985 feet west of Trail Boss and creates a right-turn-in-and-out only about 330 feet west of the road," said Stan Brown, Castle Rock director of public works. "The change will reduce the impact on Founders and make it safer.
The Colorado Department of Transportation plans to convert Founders to a state highway in a couple of years," Brown said.
Because of CDOT's plans, the state agency also must approve any changes to the access plan, he said.
The access plan was approved in 1999 by the council and CDOT. Any changes to the plan must be approved by both entities, Brown said.
"Both the town and CDOT approved the amendment," Brown said.
Construction on Trail Boss Road in is a design phase, Brown said, and the amendment to the access plan is one of the first hurdles to be jumped.
