In the next few months, Parker residents will see quite a few changes around town that could make life a little easier.

A 120-foot-long pedestrian bridge was built over Sulphur Gulch along Stonehenge Way by the entrance to the Rowley Downs subdivision.

The bridge is the first phase of the Tallman Gulch project, said Chuck Keith, engineer for the Parker Public Works. The Tallman Gulch project spans 2,600 feet of bike path. Two bridges are expected to connect the Rowley Downs subdivision with the Sulphur Gulch trail and Mainstreet.

Some repairs to the trail have been in the works because of water and sand problems, Keith said, and eventually, a trail will connect to a trail through Tallman Drive and Hidden River to the Cherry Creek Trail.

A 10-foot-wide trail to Tallman Gulch also will be built in the first phase.

“Because of drainage issues and erosion problems, we need to fix those before we get the trail done,” Keith said.

At the end of the month, a sidewalk along Newlin Gulch will be under construction that will connect from Challenger Park Estates to the Cherry Creek Trail, Keith said.

The Cherry Creek Trail needs to be realigned south of the Bar Triple C Ranch for channel improvements, but because of the Preble’s meadow jumping mouse, the repairs must wait.
For those who are tired of the traffic, road construction also is in the schedule.

The extension of Dransfeldt Road and 20-Mile Road should be complete within the next week, and the widening of Mainstreet to Pine Drive already has started to break ground.

The first piece of Lincoln Avenue just east of Parker Road will be extended, Keith said, but the town is working and waiting cooperatively with the county to finish the extension that eventually will connect to Pine Drive.

Jordon Road construction will be a continuing project, he said, and the town plans to continue working on that as long as the weather stays steady.
