Bids of $116,800 from MW Golden and $198,118 from WO Danielson Construction also were received.
The project will be paid for through the 1999-2000 capital reserve fund.
In other board news:
• The purchase of three vans and one 1-ton utility truck for $93,859 from Daniels Chevrolet in Colorado Springs was approved.
Because low-emission vehicles that meet the district’s standards were not available from the Colorado State Awards program, the board obtained bids from dealers in the metro area.
The state usually obtains statewide bids on estimated vehicle needs and the school districts then purchase at those prices from the bid-winning dealerships. All the vehicles the Douglas County School District needed were no longer available through that program.
The district found out that fleet vehicle runs for this model year are completed and no others will be manufactured, so the board decided to purchase the minimum number of necessary vehicles from a dealer lot.
• The purchase of computer equipment from a “sole source” was approved previously by the board. Arrowwood Elementary will purchase 50 desktop computer from Dell Computer Inc. and receive $279 wireless cards for each one at no charge.
The next board meeting is July 18. There will be no July 4 meeting.
